Write For The Et Cetera!

The Et Cetera is back and accepting submissions throughout this fall term! Submissions can include prose (non-fiction or fiction), poetry, visual art, amusing anecdotes, ongoing columns, and a lot of other stuff that we can't even imagine yet. Hit us up with ideas!

To help spur your thoughts, each issue will have a theme for us to converse over while we eat lunch in the atrium or have coffee from The Well. Upcoming themes for Fall 2023 are:

October 24: FRIENDSHIP
These days a lot of us are making new friends, or have recently said goodbye to long-time ones. What does friendship mean to you? What role does it play for us that can't be found in other relationships? Do you and your bestie like to talk about a particular topic a lot? Here's one idea: sit down with them, record your conversation, and we could publish the transcription!

November 14: NAVIGATING FAITH
Riffing on the theme of this year's retreat ("Navigating Faith"), many of us find ourselves getting disoriented (in good or not-so-good ways) while studying at Regent as God continually reveals Himself. We'd love to hear from you if this has been the case, if you want to ask questions, or if you have some advice to offer. Did anything from Matt's sessions resonate with you? What helps you navigate your faith as you journey with God?

December 5: CHILDHOOD
When Christmas is around the corner, a lot of us start to think about holiday seasons past--which usually leads us to think about childhood. What's a special memory you have from growing up? If you have kids, what have they been teaching you? (It's cool if your submission  relates to Christmas, but it doesn't have to either!)

Please keep in mind that while we entertain submissions from anyone connected to the Regent community, priority is given to the students, staff, and faculty of the college. Prose pieces should be 1,000 words or less. Visual art will be reproduced in black and white during printing, so keep that in mind. Send all submissions to: etecetera@regent-college.edu. Everything is subject to proofreading and editing; more substantial changes will be discussed with the author.

We're all eager to hear from you!
